Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, abbreviated as PNETs, originate from the endocrine cells within the pancreas, specifically in the islets of Langerhans. These tumors can also stem from neuroendocrine cells situated in the pancreas or ampulla of Vater, leading to carcinoid tumors, or from the duodenum, resulting in gastrinomas. Notably, the success rate for treating PNETs is considerably higher compared to the outcomes of treating other varieties of pancreatic cancer.
