The Centre for Minimal Access Robotic Surgery at Aster MIMS is the first-of-its-kind in North Kerala. The centre boasts of the revolutionary minimal access surgical system, the Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System. Robotic or robot-assisted surgery allows surgeons to perform complex procedures with more precision, flexibility and control than the conventional techniques. The option of the Robotic Surgery is available in Urology, Gynaecology, Oncology, Gastrointestinal Surgery and Paediatric Surgery departments. With highly experienced surgeons trained in robotic surgery, we would be able to deliver superior treatment solutions for patients at an affordable cost.
The less invasive procedure gives fewer complications, less pain with minimal blood loss, smaller and less noticeable scars, and faster recovery. The robotic system helps in reaching organs and areas where human fingers cannot. The 3-dimensional, magnified HD view helps in preventing collateral damage to healthy tissues. Da Vinci systems are also equipped with a Firefly Fluorescence Imaging technology that helps identify targeted anatomy better.
da Vinci Colorectal Surgery
Colorectal surgery is suggested when lifestyle changes and other medications do not help the colorectal condition. Some of the common colorectal conditions include: Diverticulitis Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome Colon Cancer Rectal Cancer.
Colectomy and Rectal Cancer Surgery are two surgical options: Colectomy to remove part or all of the colon and Rectal Cancer Surgery to remove whole or part of the affected rectum. Both Colectomy and Rectal Resection are done using the minimally invasive da Vinci System.
da Vinci Kidney Cancer Surgery (Nephrectomy)
Cancerous kidney tumours are usually removed using a surgery, called Nephrectomy. Depending on the severity of condition, the surgeon may suggest a partial or complete removal of the kidney. da Vinci Surgery uses the best techniques of open surgery and applies them to a robotic-assisted, minimally invasive approach. Major benefits of da Vinci Nephrectomy include: Excellent clinical outcomes and cancer control Precise tumour removal and kidney reconstruction Excellent chance of preserving the kidney, where indicated.
da Vinci Gallbladder Surgery
Gallbladder surgery (Cholecystectomy) is performed to remove affected gallbladder. da Vinci surgery removes the gallbladder through one small incision in the belly button using its Single-site technology or a few small incisions. The surgery carries all the potential benefits of a da Vinci Surgery.
da Vinci Stomach Cancer Surgery
Gastrectomy is the procedure in which the cancerous tumour inside the stomach is removed. There are three common types of stomach cancer surgeries: endoscopic mucosal resection, subtotal gastrectomy & total gastrectomy. da Vinci Gastrectomy enables the surgeon to operate through a few small incisions.
