Endocrine or Hormonal therapy
Several cancers express receptors for endogenous hormones and some are hormonal-dependent for their survival and growth. Hormonal therapy involves the use of agents which block the hormone from attaching to cancer cells or stop the production of endogenous hormones.
Generally, this involves the use of oral, intramuscular or subcutaneous drugs given over several months to years.
